Russian Railways to Become a Partner of the World Chess Championship Match
9 NOVEMBER, 2018. World Chess has announced a partnership with one of the largest railway companies in the world JSC RZD (Russian Railways) during the FIDE World Chess Championships in London from the 9th - 28th November 2018.
RZD is known for its for its contribution to the development of chess in Russia. Moreover, chess is an essential part of the Russian Railways’s corporate culture and social commitment strategy, which supports education, science, sports and healthy lifestyles. RZD organizes own corporate chess tournaments for employers and participates in the corporate chess championships. In 2017 the 1st European Corporate Chess Champion became the team of RZD.
RZD also made chess a part of entertainment program in the long-distance trains. Online chess game is available on the trains with installed multimedia portal.

The FIDE World Chess Championship Match 2018 is taking place at The College, a historic venue in the City of London. The Championship will feature a series of 12 rounds between reigning champion Magnus Carlsen, a Norwegian who has held the title since 2013, and American challenger Fabiano Caruana, the first American to contest the title for over 40 years since Bobby Fischer reigned supreme from 1972-75.
