About the Championship
FIDE and AGON — the World Chess Federation’s commercial partner held the 2015 FIDE World Chess Rapid and Blitz Championship in Berlin, Germany.
Nearly 200 top grandmasters from a record 50 countries took part in the Championship, held for the first time in the German capital.
Thousands of spectators attended the games at Championship venue, and hundreds of thousands followed the games online. Some games were really amazing and emotional.
For the first time in the history of Rapid Chess championships, the tournament was broadcasted live on TV. Numerous German and International media covered the tournament and provided rapid chess with great visibility on local and global level.
